How are you celebrating Te Wiki o te Reo Māori / Māori Language Week? Here at Te Whare Kararehe o Tāmaki-Makaurau, Auckland Zoo, we are highlighting Aotearoa – our beautiful wildlife and wild places, our culture, and how we connect with one another.
Meet Sterling from our education team, Rosie from visitor services, Devon from the bird keeping team and Adam from tourism who discuss how we embrace te reo at Auckland Zoo
Be inspired to begin or progress your te reo journey this week with whānau. You can get close to nature in our New Zealand sanctuary Te Wao Nui, meet our pāteke ducklings in The Forest, practice manaakitanga (the concept of hospitality, kindness and generosity) with your loved ones, or discover Matauranga Māori (knowledge of all things Māori).
This week is about feeling empowered to embrace te reo at any age, and as our Tourism Advisor Adam says “this is a culture that belongs to all New Zealanders’!
